Engineers Without Borders has been working at Wema and in the surrounding community to bring clean water. Wema has a well on their campus that provides the main supply of water for Bukembe Village. The water is then piped to nearby schools, allowing kids to spend more time in school and less time carrying water from the river or sick with waterborne illness.
Circle of Women is a new kind of non-profit, run entirely by students. They worked with Wema to build a new girls' dormitory. The old dormitory was overcrowded and didn't have space for all the students to stay, so they had to walk long distances to and from school. This also gave the students a lighted area to do their homework, as many students live in places without electricity.
